Mandi Program Outline for Various Colleges

Mandi Philosophy:
Higher Education students should earn their every day bread
by application of their every day learning ! !
Earning by the students due to application of what they learned leads to learning excellence ! !
It is believed that all kinds / levels of education and learning processes of inherent capacity to help its students to be "Economically Surplus ". Higher education will meet this challenge through innovative design of learning process. It is a matter of conscious design of educational design by the academics.
Mandi Program design:
1. Mandi program involves one day / two days / more than 2 days field work to the students .
2. Students are made to engage in SELECT ECONOMIC ACTIVITY so as to give them an opportunity to practice what they are learning as part of academic curriculum.
3. Usually economic activity that students engage in Mandi field day is CAMPAIGNING of educational toys, books etc. For example, if Mandi is planned for Swami Vivekananda Commemoration Year - then Vivekananda Biogrpahy can be picked up for Mandi field work campaign.
Similarly, if Mandi is planned for Children's Day celebrations, students may be made to campaign Children toys in the market. Further, for Gandhi Jayathi Day - campaigning of Gandhi autobiographies can be taken up.
4. There is NO limit for how many student can be involved in Mandi . As many students as avaialbe can be involved in Mandi.
However, a piece of advice is that make a beginning of Mandi with small number of students may be 200 students slowly and slowly take it involving large number of students

Atleast 3 months advance preparation is needed to launch Mandi program.

3 months in advance of Mandi field day
- Design the Mandi brochure
- Decide the Mandi products keeping in view the significance of the national day. For example if Mandi is planned for Republic day.. some
- Start pitching up for sponsorship , Guests of honours for Mandi field day flag off ceremoney
- Write to various local agencies ( municipality, police, sales tax agencies) seeking permissions to conduct the Mandi field day
15 days before Mandi field day
- Curtain raiser for Mandi program may be initiated
- Train the students for Mandi field day campaign; Product training, Sales training etc
- Involve the vaiours faculty members to give inputs related to their curricular courses like - Communication, sales, economics, strategy, consumer behaviour etc.
- Inform + Invite the local media of the forthcoming Mandi program
One week before Mandi Field day
- Receive Mandi inventories
- Make arrangements for distribution of Mandi inventoreis to students
- Help the students to form small groups to work in the field
- Distribute the Mandi field inventories to student groups
- With a bang Mandi flagging off ceremony can be planned where students are inspired to engage in fieldwork.
- Following the flagging off students will visit the Mandi field and start campaigning of their Mandi inventories that were issued to them.
Following Mandi field day:
- Mandi field proceedings are collected and paid to the agencies
- Mandi students are made to reflect on their field experience and learnings need to be created
- Mandi valediction program may be planned where in the success of the Mandi program can be celebrated
